The research behind movement and learning is rapidly growing. It shows that movement increases blood and oxygen flow, which positively affects cognitive development, physical health, and mental well-being. Having wobble stools and kick bands will give each student what their bodies and brains need to stay focused and engaged in their learning. First-grade students were built to move, and they need a safe outlet for their energy so they can maintain their focus. The wobble stools will be used in learning centers and at traditional desks to allow students the opportunity to move while they learn. Occupational therapists agree that students who engage their cores engage their brains! Moving while learning helps students to retain the information and stay engaged. These mild movements will help decrease classroom disruption, enabling all learners to stay focused and engaged and will potentially impact my students for years to come.
