About my class

My 7th and 8th grade students have never gotten to be a part of an instrumental music program. They are curious, energetic and vibrant students who need a healthy and creative outlet for self and group expression. Many of my middle school students have expressed interest in playing wind and percussion instruments, but we lack the instruments and funding necessary to start a band program together. The power of music is undeniable, from the impact it has on character building to its effect on literacy skills. I hope to help my students discover themselves and build character through group study and performance, as well as create a lifelong appreciation for the arts. In a community where often the most basic needs sometimes cannot be met, the gift of music might just be the best one of all. My students need wind and percussion instruments to start our band! Please help us start our band program and bring music to life in Bridgeport!
