We want to learn to play music. Our elementary music program was eliminated from our district several years ago in a round of budget cuts. My students no longer have a regular music class. I would like to change that by teaching students to play the recorder as part of our classroom rotations. Our former music teacher is now in the classroom and is a great resource for helping me make this happen. Our PTC has agreed to purchase the Recorder Karaoke program and the “belts” that students can earn in the program. All we need to get playing are the recorders! I would love my students to have access to this musically enriching activity. Music ignites all areas of child development, sparks school readiness skills, and strengthens memory skills.
