Makerspaces are widely used in school libraries. These materials allow students, who may not be good in reading or math, to explore other skills through creating and building while fostering critical thinking skills.Enrichment classes are often overlooked, but these are often the classes where students are allowed to blossom because these are the areas they are interested in and more expressive. Students in my school need the opportunity for enrichment, learning how to collaborate, and learn how to think above and beyond in order to meet our 21st century skills. Teachers have enough skills to try and provide these students and often times do not get the opportunity to allow children to partake in creative projects. Hosting a Maker Space in our school library would give students a place to tinker, create, and explore outside their regular education classroom.
