My students need a variety of materials to meet their unique learning needs. Just like all students, students with disabilities all learn differently. I want my students to be able to grasp educational concepts through a variety of mediums. The Chrome Books will allow them to access the core curriculum and practice their technology skills, which will help them access the online curriculum (just like their general education peers) and practice their computer skills which are critical for statewide assessments and lifelong vocational skills. My students also need to practice their organizational skills, which will prepare them for high school and lead to success later in life. They also need access to hands- on manipulatives such as markers and locks that will help them simultaneously work on ELA skills and learn how to use a lock for their PE class. Lastly, many of my students have difficulty with communication and social situations. The books requested will help students understand different social concepts and provide useful strategies for them to use when they are put into situations that may make them feel uncomfortable.
