These books will allow the students to read as a whole class or in small literature circles. The students will work on reading, critical-thinking skills, comprehension, and communication skills. City of Ember is a book that will be used for the whole class to help discuss dystopian novels, which are popular today. It will also be used to help the students write an opinion paper on the topic of books vs. movies. Some books will also be used in the classroom library to give my students additional options to choose from. Books aren't just words, they transport students to new places as well as new people to meet. These books will help the students have a variety options as well as reading genres. The students will have books they can connect with as well as books that will challenge them. They will learn about that past as well as thinking about what the future may hold. These books will help deepen their thinking.
