6th grade math teacher in Carson, California. Over 75% of my students qualify for free or reduced lunch, over 10 students with IEPs, ELD students, and 100% of students who are ready and eager to learn! School just began a couple of weeks ago and I can already say that this is an amazing group of scholars! The first couple of weeks we worked on team building and getting to know each other. I've learned so much about these kiddos. There are many that wish to go into mathematical driven fields such as engineering, coding, real estate, and so on. They indeed are the future. The classroom I was given this year is a lecture type hall. It makes it difficult for students to sit in groups to work collaboratively and the single row desks isolate them from one another. Teamwork makes the dream work
