My school is currently in the process of becoming a PBIS (Positive Behavior Incentives & Supports) school. Instead of focusing on negative behavior, PBIS is a program put in place in order to promote positive behavior throughout the classroom and the entire school. I'm hoping to use the "Thumbs Up" trophies to help promote positive behaviors in my math classroom. These trophies will be handed out to students when they are "caught" going above and beyond our classroom and school expectations. My goal is to distribute these randomly throughout the school year when I find students doing something outstanding. I'm currently in my 3rd year of teaching so I'm still learning how to manage my classroom. My hope is that these awards will help creative a positive learning environment for all of my students.
