I have chosen stability ball chairs with bases to start my classroom with flexible seating options. These chairs allow students the comfort and ability to do their work while also providing stimulating physical activity. I feel that their brains will stay more active and alert if their body is able to move the way little bodies should. Many of my students have ADD/ADHD. Offering them a way to focus some of their attention or extra level of activity through bouncing in these seats will help them reach higher achievement in the classroom, as well as decrease problem behaviors such as disruption. Impulse control may be easier to achieve as well when their bodies are being stimulated simultaneously with their minds.
