I teach in a very old building in Saint Paul. Our classroom only has 3 small windows that let in very little natural sunlight. We have overhead fluorescent lighting. The lack of natural sunlight and the overhead fluorescent lighting can negatively effect students' learning by hindering their attention and ability to focus. I want to create a classroom that removes anything that could possibly hinder my students' learning. Researchers and teachers have concluded that many children are more attentive and engaged in softly lit spaces. I am hoping that these lamps create a calm environment where my students can learn without any barriers. Finally, I believe in flexible seating options for students. I have a large class size this year and don't have much space for bean bags or other seating options. These stackable stools will help provide some flexible seating options without taking up a lot of space! Thank you so much for your willingness to partner with my classroom in these simple environmental changes!
