Colorful and easy to use, Lego bricks have withstood the test of time because of their unlimited open-ended possibilities. In my classroom, students enjoy a hands-on approach to learning. They get the opportunity to touch, build, examine, test, redesign, and defend! By starting a LEGO club at our middle school, students will get to do all of these things while still having fun. There are a number of infinite possibilities to build and learn that come with the interlocking colorful plastic pieces that can be assembled and re-assembled providing learners needing a variety of enrichment opportunities. I am requesting a variety of LEGO starter kits for my students. We are starting a LEGO club at school. This club will give my students the opportunity to learn by doing! We will meet once a week to complete a variety of different LEGO challenges, such as constructing an airplane or recreating a scene from a favorite book. The benefits of this hands-on opportunity are endless. LEGO pieces will allow students from a variety of cultural backgrounds and learning levels an astonishing range of creative play opportunities and enhance communication (among peers) and critical thinking. Receiving these LEGOS will allow students to develop lateral thinking in a fun environment, think in three dimensions, and develop problem-solving, organization, and planning by construction.
