Our school is going fully sustainable by 2020. Many students bring plastic water bottles and buy more in the cafeteria, especially when temperatures reach 110 degrees outside. They still want to play outside and have fun, so having a refillable water station outside will keep them healthy and safe! This refillable water station will reduce waste, keep the students hydrated and keep our campus cleaner. Without it, we would continue to fill landfills with plastic and not meet our goals of a fully sustainable campus by 2020! We are working on a zero-waste initiative that includes composting, as well as recycling. Even within these parameters, one-use plastic bottles are not part of our goal. Refillable water bottles that show school spirit and can be used outside of school will help our students be sustainable for the rest of their lives.
