Flexible Seating is a research-based initiative that is putting students in charge of their own learning. The students will have the option to choose the type of seat that meets their physical needs while being active learners in the classroom. Flexible seating allows students to be active while learning in a positive way! Studies show that if a child is able to move around, have ownership over their learning style, and improve ability to focus, then the learning is more powerful and meaningful to the students. The students will get to choose from a variety of seating options, which will include donut seats, active learning stools, and bean bag seats. I have already implemented standing desks and cushion seating at desks, and the students LOVE it! I've already seen positive changes in learning!
