I will be using the book Wonder to teach my scholars good character traits such as respect, compassion and acceptance of others. They will learn that each one of them is a unique individual that has the power to choose who they want to be. We can choose to judge others or we can choose to be kind and create a better world. While reading this novel, students will reflect on their own choices and learn to become better citizens. Through this process scholars will analyze each character looking at specific character traits that define who they are and how they response to challenges in their lives. In addition they will reflect on an important challenge or event in their own lives and write a personal narrative, including how the event affected them.
