Our first grade classroom is a wonderfully busy group of little learners. They enjoy being at school, love learning, and are always eager for each day. The Benzie County community is a rural area in Northern Michigan near Lake Michigan where tourism and cherry & apple orchards are the primary industries. Many of my student's parents have grown up in the area and continue to make their home here. They work in the tourism industry such as resorts, restaurants, and small gift shops. Our district offers free breakfast to all our students and a high percentage also receive free lunch. Each day I try to give my students every opportunity to be successful in school now and give them a love for learning that will keep them thriving for success throughout their school career and beyond.
