My students need basic classroom supplies. They need the notebooks for interactive notebooks so that everything that they do is on their level. Pencils are always lost by the end of the day, never to be found again. These two things are extremely important in school. My students' parents focus on the most basic needs, food, and shelter. The basic school needs like glue sticks, binder paper, erasers, and pocket folders sometimes are overlooked. The supplies that are brought in are fewer and fewer. I have to come up with creative ways to make everything stretch. The old saying is true: it takes a village to raise a child, but it takes a community to help them succeed in school.
