The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien is an incredible book that goes far beyond just another war novel. O'Brien takes his readers through a journey that cherishes the finer (and seemingly, smaller) things in life. Sometimes it is easy to forget what people may be "carrying" and too often, we don't prepare students for what they will have to "carry" in this life. Every student has something different to gain from The Things They Carried while they will also still gain something similar. By having a classroom set of The Things They Carried, many students in the school will get an educational opportunity that many before wished they would have had.
