My journalism students will be experimenting with online publishing this year. Although they will be publishing online, their content will be available in various mediums. Students will experiment with growing a social media presence, publishing written works on our school website and a school blog, and creating a weekly news show that will be seen by their peers. This is a class of discovery, self directed learning, and communication. Students need to have good tools at their fingertips in order to reach their maximum potential. An iMac is an ideal tool for that purpose. Written content can be produced on chromebooks or in a computer lab, but my students need a solid platform on which they can edit photos, audio files, and videos for social media and their news show. Our class already has a few iPads and students' iPhones to produce content. A computer using the same ecosystem makes sense.
