This school year our amazing glee club lost its funding. As it was, we scrounged around looking for space to practice and anything that will allow us to keep a beat, whether it is music from cell phones or clapping hands. These materials will enhance practice immensely. The iPad Mini and speaker will allow the kids to play and replay their songs with the ability to hear the music over their own voices or chatty excited kids. It is extremely hard to play music from phones loud enough for everyone to hear and a good quality speaker will permit this to happen. We all learned that keeping a beat with hands leads to very sore palms when you practice a song repeatedly. Rhythm sticks and shaker eggs will offer different sounds to incorporate into the acapella songs. This club has given these kids more confidence then I have ever seen a group of children have. They love to perform for the school and community and live for practice. They never complain when they have practice after a long school day and have also learned an important skill of time management that comes with extracurricular activities. These supplies would make practice that much more effective as well as give them a boost of confidence that comes with success.
