My Art room is an engaging and inclusive place where students feel safe to create and explore their feelings with art materials. ALL students come to their art room: general education, special education and life skills. It makes me so happy to hear students say art is their favorite class. This means I'm doing my job and helping students explore their environment with the eyes of a visual artist! We love using diverse materials: sculpting, painting, drawing... Art helps with the brains development, by giving students a new way of approaching difficult subjects and understanding complex concepts. Making art gives students an avenue to interpret and analyze feelings they may keep bottles up. The student can create a piece of work that expresses things that may be difficult to say out loud. Art is a testimony to the human condition. Through art students can explore history. Our humanity can be explored with art
