We learn by hands on and with these supplies my students will be able to "see" how the bonds are made. This is an especially hard concept when we cannot see the bonds being made. If students can manipulate the various chemicals, students can conceptualize how these chemicals work within our world. With the hot plates we will be able to create our own chemical changes, such as liquids to gas. Students need to see results of how they can make chemical changes. Sometimes this is all we need to hook them into working in the scientific field. They need to have that "I wonder" so we can push them towards finding out what how the "I wonder" can be solved.
