Having a class set of headphones will allow my students to all participate in our daily Google Classroom assignments and small group work. The majority of my 3rd grade students are academically at a Kindergarten- 2nd grade level and need a lot of 1:1 instruction on phonics and sight words. Having a class set of headphones would allow me to pull a small group of students to give them my undivided attention and support while knowing that the rest of my students are getting the small group work that they need through engaging differentiated technology assignments. Because I have such a linguistically diverse group of students made up of 7 languages, I use technology to differentiate my instruction. In order to meet the needs of my students, I must differentiate the reading passages and articles by level as well as differentiating the assignment questions and scaffolding for student answers. Google Classroom has been a wonderful resource that has helped me to differentiate for my students, but a lot of my English Language Learners need audio to hear the words being read as they read along. During my small groups, students would benefit from having headphones to work on phonics skills which require them to identify words not only by letter structure but also by sounds. I chose over the ear headphones because they can be cleaned and reused for many years to come. Thank you for considering making a donation to my wonderful students. Having headphones would make a tremendous difference in their education this year and for years to come!
