Some kids love to read and some kids don't. I've found a way to get all of my students reading, engaged, and excited about reading. This happens when students create an interactive notebook while reading a novel. The students read the chapter, create the notebook pages, glue them in, color them, and create excitement with their friends, parents, and other students about reading. My students realized that reading can be an enjoyable escape to the difficult life they are faced with each day. They have found their love of reading and learning again through interactive notebooking. I want my students to be able to complete the task without having to worry about sharing materials from another student or traveling around the building to borrow from another teacher. Their classroom should be a place where they have everything they need.
