Whether a student reads on a pre-k level or a 12th grade level, they need an inviting place to read for pleasure and practice. The bookcases, rug, and floor pillows will provide that for my students. They will have bookcases where they are able to choose books to read and a comfortable place to sit and read from them. I am working on building an atmosphere in my classroom that encourages reading. It isn't often that I choose to sit on a tile floor or in a straight backed chair to read. I look for a comfortable spot and settle in to read. This is what I hope to build and create for my students. A comfortable, safe, and inviting place for them to expand their skills and their world through reading. "If you build it, they will come." Help me put this to the test.
