Many of my students do not seem to get the beneficial rest that they truly need to function daily at school. New mats would truly help with this for different reasons. For the past 23 years, the preschool students in our small community have used the same cots. These cots have truly seemed to have done their duty. The cots are falling apart, torn, heavy, and they are dangerous because we store them in the room. They are also hard to clean when an accident occurs. They are dangerous when they are out because children tend to trip over them if they have to get up and use the restroom. My students and I are so ready to have something new to rest on. I feel that if we are able to have new mats to sleep on then the boys and girls will rest better; therefore, they will be able to function and learn more at school and at home. These new mats will be more comfortable and easier to clean. Due to my limited space, it would also help with providing my room with more space for learning because the mats would be able to fit in their cubbies. The cots we have now take up space on the floor; therefore, that's where they can be dangerous. One of the most important aspects of having new mats would be for sanitary reasons. I feel they will be easier to clean because they can be wiped and hopefully later down the road I can even purchase sheets to cover them. If anyone is able to help our classroom out, I would appreciate every inch of your donation and I know my children would too!
