My goal is to provide culturally diverse texts that allow students the chance to see themselves in stories. Students are more engaged in reading when it is something that interests them and that they are able to relate to as they read. These additions to my classroom library will be available to every student in my room so that hopefully they can lose the excuse, "I don't like to read." It is also through reading that students become inspired for what their future could hold. They are able to see opportunities that they may not have seen before which will encourage them to dream big!
