I selected these books because they cover a broad range of interests- fiction and non-fiction, STEM, and more. Students are most motivated to learn to read when they see that reading is both fun and a way to get information. I want every one of my students to learn to love reading, and these books will help accomplish this goal. These books will engage students, and fuel their love of reading. For example, the Grade 1 High Interest, Low Readability 10 book set will offer students the ability to read books about subjects they are interested in. Additionally, the Growth Mindset Read Alouds will help me teach my students about the value of challenging themselves, perseverance, and trying new things. I also ordered some sets of books so that students could form their own book clubs around their interests, to encourage authentic discussions and write ups about their favorite books.
