We are so excited to teach our students the very important life skills of preparing food and socializing with others through our classroom kitchen. We will use the skills we learn to share our cooking creations with school staff and also invite friends to our classroom to share with them as well. They will learn how to properly prepare and serve meals as well as how to clean and take care of kitchen supplies. They will learn how to use tools to measure ingredients for recipes. They will work cooperatively with each other to prepare food that we can all enjoy.
A classroom kitchen will provide many opportunities for my students to practice social skills and develop positive peer relationships with others. My students struggle to develop friendships with peers. Through leaning to cook, my students can invite peers to our classroom and share their creations with them. They will develop vital life skills that they can use outside of school and throughout their communities. These lessons will continue to serve them throughout their lifetimes and help them have fun while learning!
