Many of the students attending my school do not have the economic advantages of children in other schools. Many of them live in lower income settings and their parents cannot afford to give them specialized learning experiences that you can help provide. Students will get to watch a tadpole grow into a frog with the frog hatchery kit. They will use the backyard safari habitat for a safe and comfortable living place for the tadpoles and frogs. This habitat will offer easy viewing of the changes taking place. Students will use the nonfiction books to learn more about tadpoles and frogs and compare their own findings with what they read in the text. Offering a child a new experience and watching their face light up with new knowledge is at the heart of every educator. We will not know what we have provided them for many years to come, but we do know that a special teacher or a special experience can help influence a child to go on to do great things. Students gain a better understanding of concepts when the activities they participate in relate to the real world. This lesson covers the Tennessee State Science standards and guidelines. By the end of third grade, students need to be able to identify the different stages of various life cycles. They must have a conceptual understanding that metamorphosis is a transformational process. Your donation can give our students a chance to become connected to the world with hands on experiences while teaching them the required curriculum. Students will participate in the scientific process by demonstrating the standards listed above using the materials provided by your donation.
