I have taught at Taylor for seven years now. I taught sixth grade, then I moved to seventh and eighth grade math. This year will be my first year as a sixth through eighth grade math teacher. As many of you may have heard or read, Chicago Public Schools has had some budgetary problems. I have great students and parents. I am fortunate to have the same students multiple years because it allows us to pick up where we left the year before. My school has a very high Hispanic population. Generally, I have at least one student every year that does not speak English when they enter into my classroom. The picture is from a STEM program involving the Museum of Science and Industry and NASA. It was about cooperative learning and how that is often being used in careers today. I try to incorporate group learning on a daily basis and I want to incorporate more stations into my middle school classroom this year.
