My students have seen other classes with different types of seating and they want this. I am looping with my class so I know what they want and the community I will be serving; some students need to move while working. The Giam Balls and Wobble seats give them an opportunity to get the wiggles out while still giving them a desk with a flat surface to work on, and they are exercising a minimum of 30 minutes several times a day. Win! Win! Research has shown that kids learn better when they are comfortable, which is where the sit spots come in. They can be moved around the classroom and they give the students an opportunity to be alone or sit in groups to collaborate. The sofa gives students an opportunity to keep that homey feeling while reading with a teammate or just discussing life. I can imagine the stories they will write after an engaging conversation.
