My AP Computer Science students are learning how to program using the Java programming language. Java is one of the most widely adopted programming languages. In fact, Android uses Java as its primary means of building applications. We would like to bridge the gap between theory and practice by applying our knowledge to building real Android apps. Building Android apps provides students with a real-life use of programming and prepares them to make decisions about college and their career. We hope to purchase a small class set of Android tablet computers to practice our Java programming skills. Student educational engagement increases dramatically when we present our students with real-life scenarios. Please help us fill the knowledge-skills gap in a high need community!
