This project will encourage hands-on play to promote a sense of interest and discovery through role play activity that will stimulate imaginative play and reinforce real life situations, family values and awareness careers in and beyond our community. Current research indicates early childhood students learn best through hands-on, cooperative play in learning environments which encourage exploration and self expression. The current method of teaching will be expanded by using age-appropriate play to learn concepts in all areas of the curriculum and provide necessary graduated learning challenges in a comfortable, safe environment. Learning objectives will be initiated using interactive experiences that enhances children's literacy, symbolic play, motor skills, math concepts, oral language skills, creativity, peer relationships and critical thinking skills. This fosters an awareness of diversity and supports enthusiasm and engagement as the cornerstones of approaches to incidental learning. Assessments will be done through observations. Various curricular areas including home environment, community helpers and career awareness can be implemented. Activities can be integrated to compliment all areas of the Oklahoma State PASS objectives and aim to offer experiences that maximize young children's learning and development, providing each child with a foundation for current and future school success.
