The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students already have a functional purpose. I know all my students will benefit and have a great learning experience as these items will allow me to be more creative in the classroom with their learning abilities and skills. Your generous donation to our project will improve our Kindergarten classroom by providing them with the essentials that stimulate their learning process. This will give our students more ways to learn in the classroom. Rug- The circle time/area rug will allow me to teach short lessons in small group and or whole group before setting my students up in centers. The rug will be used for most lessons and will be an essential part of our classroom. 4 way-Sensory Table- The table will be used to facilitate exploration and naturally encouraging children to play, create, investigate and explore. While stimulating their senses children will also develop cognitively, linguistically, socially and emotionally, physically and creatively. Listening Center & DVD’s This center would benefit children with a CD player, headphones, books and CDs. The students can listen to favorite books It will help provide a model of fluent reading. Audio books also give the children an important introduction to listening-skills that they must learn. The listening center would enhance the students reading ability. Bean Bags- Studies have shown that beanbag furniture can also provide therapy for autistic children with sensory processing difficulties. In our classroom the chairs will be used during story time, listening centers and or if a student needs a comfortable spot to wind down.
