I am a second year teacher and I am working in a rural community. I have an amazing first grade class! Having books in our classroom would provide my students with more choices. Most of my students primary language at home is Spanish. They are not exposed to a lot of literature due to socioeconomic status. My students love reading and looking through books. A library full of books would expose students to different things. My students have interests, curiosities, and imagination. They are so curious about the world around them. Many of them have never been out of town. These books will help my student's reading comprehension, vocabulary, and writing. This school year I want to implement the Daily 5. In order to do so I need books for my literacy centers so students can read to themselves and to other students.
