Books can change lives, and engaging texts can open doors to kids who would otherwise leave the cover of a text closed. I would like to hook kids into reading again. So many young people love reading until we "ruin it" for them. By providing them with choice and encouraging stamina and increasing complexity over time, my goal is to build book love, as inspired by Penny Kittle. Students will be be reading everyday in class, setting reading goals, reflecting on their reading, completing book talks, and writing about their texts. This will be a year long project for students 9-12.
