Read alouds in the classroom are crucial! After attending the Virtual Bilingual Conference this summer, I compiled a large list of books that discuss social emotional development for children, books about minorities and our cultures, as well as books that show women taking leadership roles. Books open students up to discussions on crucial topics. After being trained in how to effectively select books, I feel that this is the perfect opportunity to update my classroom library! With these books, my students can see that they too can accomplish great things! I plan to use each book as an integral part of my lesson, by carefully reading, and creating questions for students beforehand. I am confident that these books will be enormously beneficial for my students this year!
