I am certain that in oder to be learning-ready, one has to be comfortable, feel safe and focused, in other words they need to be in their upstairs brain! This has a direct impact on learning. I am requesting more options as far as flexible seating and sensory regulation goes for my kiddos. As teachers we are accustomed to the image of kids sitting straight in rows, in hard plastic chairs. If they wiggle or complain they are misbehaving. I do not believe this to be true. Many kids are listening, soaking in everything that you say, but unless they are looking straight at you and answering every question, you think otherwise. I want each and every one of my students to feel as though they can settle in, and learn, in whatever seating style fits them best. Therefore I am requesting 2 more yoga balls to accompany the three that I already have. I am also requesting 5 wobble cushions and the kindermat floor cushions. I would love to have one table where my students can sit on the floor cushions, one table with yoga balls, and one table with wobble cushions. This way my students can experiment with a variety of flexible seating options. I am also requesting 5 stools to use at my horseshoe tables with my small groups. Thank you so much for supporting my kiddos!!
