Most would argue that a projector and interactive whiteboard are essential in today's classrooms. While we do have a projector, it is of poor quality, not mounted and was not intended for our small space. With nearly 30 adolescents in my classroom, students often trip over the wires causing us stop to recalibrate the projector or reboot the whole system.
Having a mounted short throw projector would allow for better use of classroom time and keep my students engaged. Mathematics at the Algebra level is often abstract. I am always looking for ways to connect the information to their lives. Being that most are visually oriented, a functioning mounted projector, will allow me consistently display a variety of media to engage my students. Last year, 90% of our grade 8 students passed the Common Core Algebra 1 Regents. I am looking forward to exceeding that number this year.
