My students are advanced level English Language Learners in 9-12th grade. This means that they are very close to achieving fluency in English. For many of them, this would make them bilingual, and for some, multi-lingual! It is my goal to help all of them achieve this by the end of the school year! These young adults speak English very well, but they are developing their writing and extending their vocabulary. It is exciting to see them use more complex writing forms and digest more abstract literature. I want to make my room literature rich and a place for experiential learning. Manipulatives, art supplies, technology, and books are all essential to creating just such an environment. When these materials are available to students, they can begin to extend their language use in multiple forms and mediums. I invite you to join me in preparing our multi-lingual leaders!
