With these new books, my students will be able to work in small groups together and hold conversations with their peers regarding the various themes such as friendship and differences that present itself throughout the book. My students will be able to view different cultures and appreciate the differences of others. Books are not only a way to escape to a new land but also a way of discovering one's self. To allow students to experience the experiences of others will not only encourage them to continue reading, but they will develop their social and emotional learning as well. Students will learn about friendship, celebrating different cultures, and showing empathy.
