Literacy is the foundation of child's education. As a teacher it is my responsibility to provide an environment that fosters a desire to read, and the resources needed to ensure students at any reading level continue to progress. It breaks my heart when my students ask me daily for new books to read, but due to a lack of budget and because I am a first year teacher, I have a very limited classroom library and am unable to honor their request. While I am thrilled that I've met my goal of instilling a love of reading in them, I am in need of a classroom library complete with books for all reading levels, as my students range from kindergarten to fifth grade levels. I am asking for a variety books and books sets based on my class right now and books that can be used with my my future classes. These book are all different levels, genres and topics. Having a library with a variety of literature is an extremely important part of any classroom and I want to be able to give that to my students.
