The mats in this project will help provide a safe environment for practices. It is important for cheerleaders to practice the necessary skills needed for competitions without the fear of getting hurt as a result. These mats will definitely help optimize our practice time by helping the girls be more confident throughout practice. My girls will benefit from the gymnastic mats a great deal by having them located in our own gym vs having to travel to a community gym for safety! The student -athletes will be able to build their tumbling / gymnastics and stunting skills daily. In return, the girls will become more competitive in cheer competition. In conclusion, these mats would mean a lot both physically and financially. Our school is a part of a free lunch program due to the economic hardship of the surrounding community. Therefore, paying the cost to attend a gym limits participation for some and causes a financial strain on others. These mats would be placed in our gym and used daily by our cheerleaders.
