An easel is an important item for my classroom. It provides an opportunity for the entire class to demonstrate their learning as well as collaborating with one another in the classroom setting. I use the easel as not only a way to create anchor charts together, but it allows students to have a hands on approach to their own learning. Throughout any day in my classroom, it is important to provide opportunities for my students to come up and write, fix, solve, create their own problems, sentences, and ideas. The easel is a place at the front of the carpet where students can show what they know as well as asking their friends for agreement or help if they need it. The easel creates an atmosphere that builds my student's confidence in a low stress, supportive way with their peers encouraging them every step of the way. Having the easel is key to their success because it provides an ideal learning environment for a child who is 6-7 years old.
