My students love to move, move, move! They are only 5 and 6 year-old students after all. Yoga is a huge hit in my room. The students love to sit on the floor and stretch it out! Only problem is...the floor is hard! After many complaints about the hard floor, I asked my students how we could solve this problem. Their answer was....a carpet! They wanted something nice and big so that everyone would have room to sit. This way they could do all the stretches they love to do comfortably. Yoga exercises strengthens their bodies, improves coordination, and teaches them how to focus. The yoga cards will help me as the teacher, teach them lots of new yoga moves. The DVD will be a great alternative to the "watch a movie during indoor recess" so that the students continue to get the exercise and movement they need. No more sitting still when they should be moving! The carpet will also be used for students to gather in order to learn about healthy food choices using the Garden Heroes Kit. The comfortable space will allow them to focus on the healthy skills being taught. These materials will be used to teach students exercises and healthy food choices in order to keep them healthy!
