Greetings fellow educators! I'm incredibly excited to begin using Donors Choose. I'm about to begin my first year as a full time middle school teacher. I will be teaching a new elective course entitled Social Justice and Creative Writing, melding these two elements to create an exciting new Humanities class. My first unit of this course will be focused on confronting Islamophobia in the United States and breaking down stereotypes. I want to teach Persepolis the graphic novel by Marjane Satrapi. Since most of my students will be English learners, a graphic novel would be an accessible text to explore. It will also be perfect in preparing for their culminating formal assessment for the unit which will be a group project comic book. I need approximately 20 copies to have a class set. I appreciate any help in making this class as wonderful as it can be.
