I am currently using a chalk board that has been painted with white board dry erase paint to write on. My students also use it to work out Math problems. It gets very dirty and is difficult to clean. A black hue is always visible even with the best cleaning products. Cleaning this white board takes extra time that could be better spent teaching. Having a SMART Kapp interactive board will revolutionize my students' learning. Multiple students simultaneously will be able to use the SMART board to solve Math problems and play Math games that will enhance the learning taking place in my classroom. I envision students at the SMART board solving problems and discussing them; having friendly debates on how they are solving the problems and justify their reasoning. I have integrated technology such as Plickers for review and assessment and my students LOVE it. They are shouting with excitement when they get answers correct and discussing the answers when they get them wrong. Having a SMART board will also foster this type of engagement. As a campus we are limited on copies. With this board, I will not have to make copies of worksheets anymore, which is more eco-friendly as well. Obtaining white board markers and cleaning sprays is very difficult because of the cost involved. My class will no longer need these white board markers because students can use their fingers or a special pen on the SMART board.
