In order to encourage a love and joy of reading, I need new texts for my classroom library. In particular, I want to add high interest and culturally relevant selections so that my students will be able to see themselves in the text and broaden their perspectives. When I first began my career as a teacher, I taught 11th grade; therefore, my classroom library was more suitable for high school students. Now that I am teaching at the middle school level, I need books and magazines that reflect the interests of my 7th graders. I am excited to begin the new school year with new texts in my class library to capture the interest of my students and to also foster the culture of lifelong readers!
