My students will be using iPods, headphones, audiobooks and a physical copy of a book to read and listen to a book. During independent reading work, students will have an opportunity every day to read along on a physical book as they listen to a narrator read it. Listening while reading will help them by listening to an expressive and fluent reader. Not only will listening to a great reader help their own expression, but it will also help them to read more quickly when they read aloud or silently. When a learning reader follows along with a fluent reader, they are challenged to keep the pace of the reader. This helps the learning reader to practice a faster pace. Students are more likely to enjoy reading with exposure to new books and genres. Help my class learn to love reading even more!
