Being a teacher during the electronic age is challenging. The use of calculators for math in life is inevitable. In 7th grade math, students are learning how to solve math problems "the long way" so that they understand the purpose behind the math they are doing. There are math problems that can be time consuming if I had to wait for each student to calculate answers by hand, such as calculating the surface area of a prism, so having a calculator in class for each student to use would allow me to pace my lessons in a way that students are engaged learners.
